I give Newton the credit for my becoming an author. I was happily pursuing undergraduate work in biology and chemistry when I found myself signed up for physics. Physics and I do not get along. Believe me, we aren't even on speaking terms! I was forced to give up my dream of becoming a research biologist and, instead, turned to writing--writing all the wrong things, of course.
Then I discovered Georgette Heyer and her wonderful Regencies. Reading her books, I discovered I lived a former life among Regency lords and ladies--very likely as a maid, but an observant one! I'd found my niche.
From when I began writing, it took fifteen years to sell my first book. It was a Golden Heart finalist, a Regency titled, The Last of the Winter Roses (later republished by Zebra Books. After approximately thirty books and fifteen novellas with Zebra, my publisher cancelled the line. It was tough being orphaned, but I've been adopted by an e-publisher and I hope, together, we'll manage to put out another thirty or so.
